After serious computer problems and host server problems, I'm finally back up. I'll have more updated info, pics, etc in the next week or so. Thanks for bearing with me. Jay has some data to post with respect to our up coming show in February. I'll keep you all posted here and Gil will keep you up to speed via emails. Come to the meetings and get it from the horses mouth - even add your own two cents.
Things my models taught me (and others) 1. It is very helpful to fill gaps and seams before painting. 2. The most perfectly completed model exists only in my head before I actually start on the kit. 3. Nature sides with the hidden flaw. 4. Super glue bonds skin much faster than plastic/resin. 5. If paint can run, it will. 6. It is easier to enlarge a hole than make it smaller. 7. Raised panel lines pretty much suck. 8. You can never have too many resources. This includes tools and unbuilt models. 9. You can however, have too many started but not complete models. 10. Maxing out on #8 does not substitute for good basic skills and attention to detail. 11. You have either cut yourself with your xacto or you're going to. 12. If you are happy with it, then it's a good model.
Things my modeling friends taught me 1. Pretty much all I know about modeling. Thanks to all of you 2. Lacquer thinner cleans acrylics out of a clogged air brush very nicely. Thanks Paul 3. Q-tips dipped in nail polish remover are great for smoothing out body putty. Thanks Gus 4. Superglue works very nicely on plastic models too. Thanks Jerry 5. Making tabs to align vacu-formed parts is a must. Thanks Gil 6. Buy your sanding sticks at a cosmetic store. Thanks Gus 7. For the best prices and selection try e-bay. Thanks Gus 8. You can't live without Future. Thanks to many of you for the variety of uses. 9. You have yet to build your best model. 10. Every modeler can learn something from every other modeler. 11. Look at lots of models, then copy freely. Thanks Gus 12. Whatever you like best, occasionally build something different. Thanks Gus 13. Brake fluid really does strip paint off resin models without damaging them. Thanks Gil
